DALLAS (CBS11 SPORTS) - On Sunday, Kobe Bryant played in his final NBA All-Star Game.
Two days later, Kobe Bryant Wrice plays the final game of his high school career for the North Dallas Bulldogs.
So, how did Wrice, whose high school is a bounce pass away from the Dallas Mavericks' home, end up being named after a L.A. Laker Kobe Bryant?
"My mom thought his smile was cute," Wrice explained to CBS 11 Sports.
Wrice has lived up to his namesake by putting up numbers Kobe Bryant would be proud of.
Wrice scored 36 points against Newman Smith, then 45 against Bryan Adams, 27 against Conrad and 27 against Thomas Jefferson High School. In fact, Wrice will end the season as one of the top scorers from the area in Class 5A, averaging around 28 points per game.
The Bulldogs won't make the playoffs, so they hope to end their season tonight against Woodrow Wilson with a memorable performance from their player with an unforgettable name.
