DALLAS (CBS11SPORTS) - In her 4th year as a Dallas Cowboys Cheerleader, Kelsey is no stranger to hard work. Away from the field, she works as a medical device consultant, assisting surgeons in the operating room. Kelsey has been witness to surgeries on open spines, stomachs, necks, and even brains. Kind enough to allow us to tag along for one of her work days, Kelsey describes her job as "intense," and the place where she feels most alive when she's not cheering on America's Team.
Her shifts often require her to be in the operating room 12 hours a day, before heading off to practice. Kelsey says both duties require precision, the ultimate commitment, and an ability to relate to people that has always come naturally.
Prior to joining the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, Kelsey cheered at TCU. During her collegiate career, she had the opportunity to be a part of the Horned Frogs Rose Bowl victory. And while cheering is in his her blood, Kelsey says her career as a medical device consultant is something she intends to do way beyond her days on the field. In her words, "I love being able to do a job where I have a hand in helping people improve their health."
Kelsey says her cheerleading mates are too squeamish to hear some of the exciting things she gets to see in the operating room, but are astonished to know she's been able to make such a huge impact in her field. Kelsey says the only thing that can slow her down, sometimes, is a lack of sleep, but promises to have enough energy to keep up her double duty all the way through Super Bowl 50, especially if the Cowboys make it to the big game.
