McKinney Student Arrested After Threatening School On Facebook

MCKINNEY (CBSDFW) - A student at McKinney Boyd High School was detained on Monday night after making threatening statements on Facebook.  The McKinney Police Department received several tips on the posts, which included details on how to carry out a mass shooting at the high school.

Police responded with an immediate investigation and a juvenile suspect was identified and taken into custody at his residence at approximately 9:25 p.m. Due to the suspect's age, further details are not available.

Students on campus say the teen who posted this threat was bullied at school, which may have contributed to the threats.

The Facebook message threatened a shooting rampage in the school's cafeteria - killing 30 people - and with no survivors.

The school district says the it has yet to decide the punishment for the student involved.

The McKinney Police Department released a statement on Tuesday morning.

"The McKinney Police Department takes any threat very seriously; however, a threat against the safety and security of our schools will always be of the highest priority. The MPD would like to thank all of it citizens, teachers, parents and students who called with detailed information concerning this threat."

Rick McDaniel, the school principal, posted the following message on the school's Facebook page on Monday night.

"Boyd Students and Parents,
