McKINNEY (CBS11) - Residents can now borrow more than a cup of sugar from their neighbors in McKinney.
Teri Youngdale built what she believes is McKinney's only free-standing food pantry.
"I was on Facebook one night someone posted a video of other people doing this around the country," said Youngdale. "It's for anyone and everyone who needs extra nourishment there are times in our lives where we fall just a little bit short."
It stands in front of her house and nearby homeowners so far don't seem to mind.
Among those who help keep it filled, these Girl Scouts from Frisco and Youngdale's nine-year-old neighbor.
A homeless man who goes by the name Moses stopped by to pick up cans of soup and other items on Monday.
"I've actually come by here once or twice and thought about it you know, thats the most wonderful thing in all the world," he said.
The pantry has already been cleaned out once by suspected thieves but that isn't discouraging Youngdale from keeping It stocked and even wanting to build more
She already has two ready to place in other neighborhoods where she hopes someone else will want to adopt her idea.
"Like the saying says don't build a bigger fence build a bigger table," she said.
