KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. (AP) - Rory McIlroy blew away the field to win the U.S. Open last year with a record score. Now he would be happy just to give himself a chance at winning the PGA Championship.

McIlroy gives himself a "B'' grade going into the final major.

It seems like longer than five months ago when McIlroy held off a charge by Tiger Woods to win the Honda Classic and go to No. 1 in the world. He was one shot behind going into the weekend at the Masters until he plunged down the leaderboard to tie for 40th. McIlroy went through a nasty spell of missed cuts and only recently started to regain his form.

Asked what would make the PGA a success, he said giving himself a chance to win.
