Mavs Vs. Spurs: A Must For The NBA
By RJ Choppy | @rjchoppy
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) - The NBA needs the Mavs and Spurs series to go 7. The league needs them to be great games because it's the last form of real basketball we have.
The Hawks play a great team game, but they will roll the Celtics.
The Mavs and Spurs are great for the NBA, because the NBA promo this year is "Hero Ball..."
Really?
What about team ball? Give me that any day of the week. The league is about stars, I get it, always has been. Doesn't need to be. Shouldn't be.
The showtime Lakers were stars, but not about stars. They played a great team game. Same for the Pistons.
The NBA thinks it needs stars, and it does, but what it really needs is to get away from Isolation and "Hero Ball" that allows ball hogs and "Chucks" to take over the game. It's horrible. It's boring.
The old saying goes, "{Poop} runs downhill..." and that happens in sports too. Kids see the pros do it, so they do it, and the colleges do it, too.
Except, you know, the ones that win...
Kind of like the NBA. Although the teams not named San Antonio, and the Mavs for a year, haven't figured that one out yet.
