DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Shortly after being waived by the Mavericks, young center Bernard James tweeted a message.

It turns out, he's going nowhere, as I'm told by NBA sources that the Air Force veteran and backup big man is staying in DFW by virtue of an agreement to join the Mavs' minor-league affiliate in Frisco, the D-League Texas Legends.
James, a 2012 second-round pick, was released despite having had a guaranteed contract with Dallas this year worth $915,243. The Mavs essentially replaced him on the roster with Charlie Villanueva, leaving James without a team ... but only temporarily, as his commitment to Frisco promises more possibilities similar to what occurred when he dominated in his single D-League outing a year ago, scoring 38 points on 18-of-20 shooting, with 18 rebounds and four blocks.
I'm also told the organization is signing another ex-Mav, 39-year-old Mike James, the NBA veteran guard who played with Dallas in the 2012-13 season, and will likely start at the point in Frisco.
