DALLAS, Texas (CBSDFW/AP) - Tyson Chandler is out for the last game before the All-Star break, and Monta Ellis probably won't play either.
Now the Dallas Mavericks just have to hope their best defender and top scorer will be back after the week off, along with point guard Rajon Rondo who is still recovering from an orbital bone fracture.
Chandler injured his left ankle Monday night when he was fouled on a layup attempt by Spencer Hawes and went to the locker room about a minute later. Ellis joined him there with 8:03 left in the first quarter after hurting his left hip.
Coach Rick Carlisle ruled out the 7-foot-1 Chandler for Wednesday's game against Utah with a left ankle sprain. Ellis, averaging 20 points per game, is doubtful with a left hip injury. The Mavericks were waiting on MRI results Tuesday.
Dirk Nowitzki says missing three starters is "obviously not perfect."
The Mavericks started Tuesday fifth in the Western Conference, in a mix of five teams separated by just 2 1/2 games from third to seventh.
