Mavs Agree To New Contract With Coach Rick Carlisle
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - The Dallas Mavericks have agreed to a new contract with coach Rick Carlisle.
Carlisle's original four-year contract was set to expire after the current season.
He, along with the Spurs Gregg Popovich and Celtics coach Doc Rivers were the only active head coaches in the NBA this season with championship rings.
"We are excited that Rick will be back with the Mavericks for at least the next four years," Owner Mark Cuban said. "He is a proven winner, a great teacher and a coach that will help the Mavericks improve as a team and as an organization."
Details of the contract were not made available but the team is expected to make an official announcement sometime Tuesday afternoon.
Carlisle has a 198-114 regular season record in Dallas. He is 479-325 overall as a head coach with Detroit, Indiana and Dallas.
