Mark Cuban Hopes Dallas Becomes 'City Of Champions'

DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban was a businessman well before he owned the Dallas Mavericks. So when a lucrative opportunity surfaces which merges sports and business, he's jumps on it.
Before Thursday's home opener against the Jazz, Cuban made sure to plug his pet project, CyberDust. After that, he gave frequent mention to his next potential cash cow -- "City of Champions".
"I'm happy for the Cowboys. I'm thrilled for them," said Cuban.
But why?
"One, when the Cowboys do well, there's a buzz and people looking at sports. That helps us."
Makes sense. Anything else?
"Two, I own all the trademarks for 'City of Champions'. If we can win, the Stars can win, and the Cowboys can win, I'm going to make a [lot] of money."
Also makes cents.
Cuban says the trademark cost him just $38,000.
With a rising Stars team, a surprisingly good Cowboys team, and a Mavs team built to win in the playoffs, that investment could soon pay off.
And if not in Dallas, perhaps in San Francisco.
