Mansfield School Dealing With 2nd Tragic Death In 2 Weeks
MANSFIELD (CBSDFW.COM) -- For the second time in two weeks, Mansfield Timberview High School is dealing with the sudden death of a community member.
On Saturday night, student Carlos Marquez was killed and three of his classmates were injured in a car wreck.
Just last week, Timberview coach Cody McCarty died at the age of 29. It's thought that he suffered a heart attack.
The crash that killed Marquez happened at 11:30 p.m. on State Highway 360, just north of the school.
Marquez, who was 15, was riding in the back seat of the car at the time. Police say the 17-year-old driver was trying to pass a slower car when she lost control, veered into the median, and hit a tree.
Timberview brought in several grief counselors Monday to help the students and staff deal with Marquez' death.
