FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A man arrested by Fort Worth police after a SWAT stand-off and house fire is now charged with arson.

Police originally tried to arrest 30-year-old Brandon Ishmael in connection with a stolen car investigation.

But when they tried to apprehend him Thursday at a home on Haltom Road they said he barricaded himself inside the house and opened fire on officers.

The SWAT team was called in and police also had to call firefighters when smoke and flames began pouring out of the building.

Ishmael eventually escaped out of a side window and ran off into a field where they took him down with a bean-bag round. He's in custody and charged with arson of a habitation.
