Man Wanted For Murder Caught In Texas
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A man wanted for the murder of a northern New Jersey bar bouncer has been arrested in Texas. Essex County prosecutors announced Tuesday that Nolvin Garcia was arrested last month in Texas as he tried to cross the Mexican border. Garcia, who is also known as Jose Elvin Lendos Garcia, was wanted for the Aug. 6 murder of Jacques Nelson outside Misty's Restaurant in West Orange.
Prosecutors say Nelson, a father of four, was trying to intervene in a dispute outside the bar when he was shot by Garcia.
Garcia was arrested a week after the murder and was returned to New Jersey within the last 10 days. His bail has been raised from $750,000 to $1 million.
