Man Surrenders, Admits To Role In Deadly Hit-And-Run

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) -- A 31-year-old man has surrendered to police and admitted to hitting and killing a pedestrian in Dallas early Sunday morning.
Paul Miltenberger was crossing the road in the 5500 block of Mockingbird Lane around 2:30 a.m. Sunday when he was hit by a black Dodge Charger.
The driver of that vehicle never stopped to render aid. Miltenberger, a 20-year-old sophomore at the University of Missouri-Columbia and Southlake Carroll High School graduate, died of his injuries.
According to an arrest warrant, Jonathan Eugene Redmond surrendered on Monday night and made a voluntary video in which he admitted to being the driver. Redmond also admitted that he fled the scene without rendering aid.
A witness to the crash provided a vehicle description, which was later confirmed by debris left at the scene.
Redmond showed police his 2011 Dodge Challenger, which had "damage consistent with striking a pedestrian." The vehicle was also missing the right-side mirror, which was recovered at the scene.
The suspect was arrested and taken to Lew Sterrett.
Dallas Police are holding a 2 p.m. press conference to release more details in the case.
