FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - A man is dead after a shooting in south Fort Worth. The incident happened just before 4:00 a.m. on Friday at a home in the 1500 block of Willow Park Drive.
The male victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Crime scene investigators and homicide detectives said that he was found in a bedroom with multiple gunshot wounds. His name has not yet been released by officials, but he is thought to be a 29-year-old Hispanic man.
The home on Willow Park Drive belongs to a 67-year-old widow. According to police, two other adults also lived at the home, and two children were inside at the time of the shooting. Those kids were taken out of the house by authorities early Friday morning and appeared to be uninjured. There has been no word about the ages of the kids.
Police have not released any information about a possible suspect or motive in this case. Detectives are still in the early stages of their investigation.
In the meantime, authorities said that neighbors should not be worried. "We don't expect this to be any situation where we have someone running around on a rampage," said Officer Steve Enright with the Fort Worth Police Department on Friday morning. "We always want to be aware of our surroundings. People shouldn't be worried about this."
Raleigh Wilson, who has lived in the neighborhood for nearly thirty years, said she is not worried but is "very surprised".
"It's shocking," she said, "I just can't imagine what happened."
