Man Shot After Fight At Mesquite Gaming Room

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - A fight inside of a Mesquite convenience store gaming room Wednesday morning ended in gunfire outside in the parking lot, leaving one man wounded. The incident happened at about 1:30 a.m. as officers were called to the RaceWay store, located in the 1000 block of Gross Road.

When authorities arrived at the scene, they found a male victim in the parking lot with a gunshot wound to the stomach.

Investigators said that the victim, his girlfriend and another man were involved in an argument inside of the store, and a manager told them to take their dispute outside. The suspect pulled out a gun and opened fire, police said. He left the scene in a gray vehicle.

The victim was taken to Baylor Medical Center at Dallas and was in surgery early Wednesday morning. His condition is unknown. His girlfriend was not hurt during the incident. The names of the victim and his girlfriend were not immediately released.

Police are in the process of interviewing witnesses who were at the convenience store at the time of the shooting. They are also looking over security camera footage to help with identifying the suspect, who is still on the loose.
