Man Sentenced To 78 Months For Possessing Child Pornography
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) — Kenneth David Greer, 42, of North Richland Hills, Texas, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge John McBryde to 78 months in federal prison following his guilty plea in March 2013 to one count of possession of child pornography. Greer was in custody since his arrest in February 2013, according to U.S. Attorney Sarah R. Saldaña of the Northern District of Texas.
According to a press release from the U.S. Justice Department, an officer with the Bedford Police Department stopped Greer when he ran a stop sign in January 2013. He didn't have a driver's license and a search incident to his arrest led to the discovery of a flash drive in his pants pocket that was found to contain numerous images and videos of child pornography.
The case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative, which was launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorney's Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals, who sexually exploit children, and identify and rescue victims.
The case was investigated by the Bedford Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives. Assistant U.S. Attorney A. Saleem prosecuted.
