Man Given 22 Years Jail For Dallas Love Field Chase

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas man was sentenced to more than 22 years in jail on Wednesday after he crashed a stolen truck through a security gate and onto the runway at Dallas Love Field in August 2010.

Michael Browne had pled guilty in November 2010 to interferring with security screening personnel. He had been in custody since the incident occurred over a year ago – both on related and unrelated charges.

According to court documents, the Dallas Police Department had been watching Browne at a north Dallas apartment complex. They checked the license plate of his car and found that it had been reported stolen a day earlier. Officers started to pursue Browne and tried to pull him over. At first, he slowed down for the police, but then he started to flee.

The 47-year-old then led police officers on a high-speed chase around Dallas in the stolen truck. The chase concluded after Browne entered Dallas Love Field property, drove past a police station and crashed through a security checkpoint gate – nearly hitting one of the gate officers.

Browne drove the stolen truck onto the airport's runway, where a police officer rammed the vehicle from behind and forced him to a stop. Browne was arrested on the runway of the airport. He has now been sentenced to 270 months in prison, more than 22 years.
