Man Gets Life Sentence For Dallas Pub Slaying

DALLAS (AP) - A Dallas man has been sentenced to life in prison for a 2012 fatal shooting outside a pub as the victim tried to stop a robbery in a parking lot.

A judge in Dallas on Tuesday accepted the plea agreement from 20-year-old Justin Jones. Jones was on trial for capital murder but he pleaded guilty to murder and two counts of aggravated robbery. Jones could have been sent to death row if convicted of capital murder.

Investigators say 36-year-old Donald Morrow was slain Oct. 18 outside Sherlock's Baker St. Pub & Grill. Police accused Jones of several other holdups the day before the killing.

An 18-year-old woman identified by police as the getaway driver pleaded guilty to aggravated robbery and was to testify against Jones. Tierra Winters awaits sentencing.
