Man Gets Life In Prison For Rape Of SMU Student
DALLAS (AP) - A man convicted in the 2009 abduction and rape of a Southern Methodist University foreign exchange student has been sentenced to life in prison.
A jury in Dallas last week convicted 28-year-old Arturo Arevalo. He was sentenced Monday by a judge.
DNA evidence tied Arevalo to the attack on the now-21-year-old woman. Investigators say she was grabbed by three men while leaving a party.
One co-defendant pleaded guilty and testified against Arevalo. The other man awaits trial.
