FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - The man accused of killing his ex-wife at her real estate office in Fort Worth has been found guilty of murder. A jury in Tarrant County convicted John St. Angelo on Thursday in the trial that began on Monday of this week.

The violent crime rocked a north Fort Worth neighborhood just over a year ago.

It was December 2013 that St. Angelo stabbed Suzanne Parsons to death at her Fort Worth real estate office. According to documents, St. Angelo had previously threatened to stab her with an ice pick while they were on vacation in Mexico. After that incident, Parsons filed for divorce.

Parsons was later found murdered after having been stabbed 23 times.

The day after Parsons was found dead, St. Angelo engaged police in a six-hour standoff in a Fort Worth neighborhood, where he was eventually taken into custody by officers.

St. Angelo had admitted to stabbing Parsons, but his attorneys argued that it was an act of self-defense. The jury clearly disagreed, finding him guilty of the murder after just a few hours of deliberation.

The trial has now moved into the sentencing phase.
