Man Dies In Irving Jail One Day After Booking

IRVING (CBSDFW.COM) - Irving Police confirm a man booked into the Irving Municipal Jail Saturday morning was found dead in his cell Sunday morning.
Police say jail detention staff found 41-year-old Gabriel Pedro Gonzales unresponsive in his jail cell around 8:15 a.m.
Police say staff immediately started resuscitation efforts. Paramedics arrived and continued those efforts and rushed Gonzalez to the hospital where he was pronounced dead an hour he was found.
Gonzales had been booked into jail after his arrest on Saturday, June 11, 2016 at approximately 11:45 a.m., for four outstanding misdemeanor warrants from the City of Dallas and the City of Grand Prairie.
The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy and the results are pending.
Irving Police say they do not yet have a cause of death and there were no obvious signs of trauma.
The investigation into Gonzales' death is ongoing.
