Man Critically Injured In Fort Worth Stabbing
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - A 46-year-old man was critically injured after being stabbed four times in downtown Fort Worth. The incident happened at about 2:15 a.m. on Tuesday morning near the corner of 6th Street and Houston Street.
According to police, the man had just left a bar in the downtown area and asked two homeless people where he would be able to find an after-hours bar. Those two homeless individuals asked the man for some money, and he handed each of them a dollar bill.
But when the homeless people saw the man's wad of cash, police said, they decided that they wanted more. A fight followed and, during that scuffle, the victim was stabbed four times in the chest. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition with a punctured lung and a punctured liver. Police have not identified the victim.
Part of the incident was caught on video by a nearby bar's surveillance camera, but police are not releasing that video at this time.
Anthony Shepard has been arrested and booked for Aggravated Robbery.
Police say a second person was interviewed and released.
Despite this violent crime, police say crime has been trending down overall in the downtown area (2012 compared to 2011) and released the following statistics:
· Crimes Against Persons down 19.7%
· Crimes Against Property down 15.0%
· All Crime down 7%
· All Assault Offenses down 19.6%
