Man Charged With Trafficking Irving Teens For Sex
SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) – Federal prosecutors say a Southern California man has been charged with bringing three teenage girls from Texas to Orange County to work as prostitutes.
U.S. attorney's office spokesman Thom Mrozek says 26-year-old Samuel Martinez Gonzalez appeared in federal court in Santa Ana Monday after his arrest and the rescue of the girls, ages 15 and 16, Friday night. He's charged with transporting minors with intent to engage in criminal sexual activity.
Authorities say they started searching for the girls after a relative contacted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. Authorities say one teen told investigators that Martinez took them shopping for dresses and heels for their so-called "job."
Mrozek says Martinez is set to be arraigned September 6.
A message was left for Martinez's lawyer Kenneth Reed.
