CARROLLTON (CBSDFW.COM) - The Carrollton Police Department has charged a man in the murder of a teenager who reportedly went missing on Thursday

Jon Stovall with Carrollton Police Department released a statement on Sunday that said 30-year-old Franklin B. Davis of Irving has been charged in the murder of 16-year-old Shania Gray.

Police believe Davis, who knew the victim, met with Gray after school on Thursday and then drove her to the Campion Trails Park along the Trinity River in Irving. Davis is believed to have shot Gray after they walked together to a secluded area of the park. Davis then left the scene.

Gray's body was found on Saturday, the same day Carrollton police released a statement about her disappearance.

At the time of the body's discovery Davis was already being held in the Carrollton Municipal Jail on unrelated traffic warrants. He has since been charged with capital murder. The Texas Department of Public Safety lists David as having faced criminal charges in the past.

Police do not believe anyone else was involved in Gray's death.
