DENTON (CBSDFW.COM) - Denton Police have arrested a man they say is responsible for a crash that killed two children in February.
Luis Bonilla is charged with two counts of manslaughter.
The charges come after an extensive investigation of the multi-vehicle crash February 6 that killed an 8-year-old boy and a 12-year-old girl.
Police say numerous witnesses spoke of the erratic and dangerous driving behavior of Bonilla behind the wheel of his black Ford F350 pickup.
The children were in a Nissan minivan sitting at a red light in the left lane of westbound Highway 380 at the Mayhill Road intersection at the time of the crash.
A Dodge Dakota and a Kia passenger car were sitting in the center lane at the red light.
Police said a fast-driving Ford F-350 crashed into the back of the minivan without stopping. The force sent the minivan into the Dodge Dakota, and the Dodge Dakota into the Kia in front of it.
No one was injured in the Dodge or the Kia.
Investigators say Bonilla was weaving in and out of traffic, speeding and "never attempting to stop or slow down and being seen with his cell phone in his hand immediately after the accident."
Bonilla's bond is set at 50,000.
He remains in the Denton City Jail.
