Man Caught Allegedly Siphoning Diesel Fuel

FORNEY (CBSDFW.COM) - Authorities in Kaufman County arrested a 38-year-old man who, they said, was caught in the act of siphoning diesel fuel from trucks in a parking lot. The incident happened in the 9500 block of Helms Trail, located just outside of Forney. Deputies were called about a theft in progress.

When deputies arrived on the scene, they found Jeremy Scott Baker of Seagoville in the parking lot of a business. According to officials, he appeared to be siphoning diesel fuel from several parked trucks. Deputies arrested Baker without incident and charged him with theft and the unlawful use of criminal instruments. His bond has been set at $100,000.

The original 911 caller told the dispatcher that the same suspect was seen in the parking lot once before, when trucks discovered that their diesel fuel had been stolen.

The Kaufman County Sheriff's Office said that Baker attempted to conceal his identity by covering up his vehicle's license plates with aluminum foil. Inside that vehicle, authorities found bolt cutters, a cordless drill, a cordless saw and other tools that are frequently used to commit theft.
