Man Carjacks Family At Dallas Restaurant

DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - A Dallas family's trip to a restaurant turned into a harrowing ride with a carjacker. The suspect made demands after falsely claiming to be a police officer.

Oscar Sierra, his wife and two-year-old son had just finished dinner Monday night. They were in the parking lot of a North Dallas restaurant when a man approached them demanding a ride.

Sierra recalled the events just before the chaos started. "My family is inside my car and my car is started," he recalled.

According to the husband and father, the stranger wasn't armed but jumped in the backseat of the car, right next to the couple's two-year-old son.

Sierra said his son is too young to realize the threat. "My child is silent… no crying, no scared, no nothing."

But Sierra and his wife were scared and they weren't comforted when the man told them, "I'm on a police mission and I need to be taken to Garland."

The couple wasn't buying the police emergency claim. They asked the man for proof of his identity, but never got it.

Once the man was inside their car, the family says they had no choice but to comply with his demands. Sierra and his wife say they relied on their faith to keep them safe.

The prayed aloud while driving the man to Garland, but still worried about what the suspect would do to their son.

The incident ended at a Garland convenience store, more than 20 miles from where it began, when the carjacker simply got of the vehicle.

"For me and my wife, thank you is to God," Sierra said gratefully.

Police are looking for a white male, around 40-years-old, with a blonde colored buzz hair cut. The suspect has the number "300" tattooed on the back of his neck and the word "gangster" tattooed on the inside of his forearm.

Anyone with information about the suspect or information surrounding the carjacking is being asked to contact the Dallas police at (214) 744-4444.
