RED OAK (KRLD) - A man has been arrested after a hit and run accident left a bicyclist dead.

Police say 38-year-old Stoney Jewell Ellis of Red Oak allegedly ran over 53- year-old Albert Isaiash Record of Glenn Heights while he was riding his bicycle around 11:30 p.m. on August 7.

Authorities responded to a call in the 2600 block of Ovilla road and located Record in a ditch. The person that made the call told a dispatcher that they saw two cars stopped in the road just east of the accident but then they sped away.

Record suffered extensive injuries and was air lifted to Parkland hospital where he did not survive.

On Thursday, the Red Oak Criminal Investigations Division obtained a warrant for Ellis, who is believed to have been operating the vehicle driven in the incident.

He is currently being held at the Red Oak City Jail and is awaiting arraignment.

Anyone with additional information on this case can contact Sgt. Richard Boone of the Red Oak Criminal Investigation Division at 469-218-7710.
