Man Arrested For Armed Robbery Of 68-Year-Old Woman

MESQUITE (CBSDFW.COM) - Mesquite Police arrested a man in the Town East Mall parking lot Saturday, about an hour after he allegedly committed an armed robbery.
Police said Derrick Eugene Cox, 22 or Lancaster is charged with aggravated robbery and drug possession.
Police said on Saturday, November 5 around 11:00 p.m. a 68-year-old woman was arriving home as she was approached by a man wearing a white hoodie. The man pulled out a gun and demanded the woman's purse and phone, according to police.
The woman gave the items to him and the man took off in a silver Honda Civic.
About an hour later, police said an officer saw a vehicle matching the suspect vehicle description on the Town East Mall parking lot.
They approached and found Cox with a white hoodie in the back seat along with the woman's purse and cell phone.
