GRAND PRAIRIE (CBSDFW.COM) - A man who took Fort Worth police on a long, multi-city chase was arrested Monday morning after a standoff that shutdown Interstate-30 in Grand Prairie for hours.
It all began just after 11:30 p.m. Sunday in North Fort Worth. Officers were dispatched on a possible domestic violence situation on Western Center Boulevard.
According to Fort Worth Police Sergeant Steven Enright, officers were talking to the victim when they heard the suspect, later identified as Kevin Daubig, start his vehicle start and then drive away. Officers pursued Daubig and tried to stop the man along the Mark IV Parkway, but he refused to pull over.
"A pursuit began, traveling through Fort Worth, North Richland Hills, back into Fort Worth, on into Arlington, and ending in Grand Prairie," Enright said. "The suspect's pickup was spiked multiple times during the pursuit."
Eventually, the suspect's truck stopped on eastbound I-30 at the Belt Line Road exit.
Negotiators worked for hours trying to convince Daubig to surrender.
"Due to the belief that the suspect had one or more weapons, including a long-gun in his vehicle, Fort Worth Zero Tolerance Unit, then the SWAT team, and hostage negotiators were involved in removing the suspect from his vehicle," Enright said.
All lanes of I-30 through Grand Prairie were shut down while the negotiations were underway.
Some motorists reported being stuck in the backup for hours.
Police said Daubig was arrested for Evading Arrest, but indicated =other charges were pending.
