Man arrested after attempted abduction of 10-year-old girl in Rockwall
ROCKWALL – A man is in custody following Friday's attempted abduction of a 10-year-old girl who was walking home after getting off a school bus.
Brian Calder, 21, has been charged with attempted kidnapping, according to the Rockwall Police Department.
The failed abduction occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 1000 block of W. Yellow Jacket Lane, police said.
Several witnesses observed the suspect grab the girl by her backpack, but the child was able to escape. A witness trailed the suspect while officers were called to the scene. Responding officers quickly located Calder, police said.
Calder was taken to the Rockwall County Detention Center and booked.
The investigation is ongoing, police said.
