Man Arrested, Accused Of Sexually Assaulting 14-Year-Old

KELLER (CBDFW.COM) - Police have arrested a man on suspicion of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old Keller resident he met online.

Taylor Jarrod Rice, 20, of Krum, met with the girl about five times in Keller. But it wasn't until their last meet-up on May 11, that they had sex, according to police.

Her parents alerted police when they found inappropriate texts and emails on their daughter's phone.

Police said Rice was arrested Thursday in Keller when he thought he was going to meet up with the girl again. He's currently in the Keller Regional Jail, held on a $20,000 bond with a charge of sexual assault, a second degree felony.

"This case is a good example why parents should be involved in monitoring their children's internet/cell phone activity," Mark Hafner, public safety director/chief of police for Keller, said in a news release. "These parents had a suspicion that their daughter was involved in an inappropriate relationship with an older man and worked with us to apprehend this individual for unlawful misconduct."
