Majority Of Texans Happy With Perry & Obama
AUSTIN (AP) - A poll by the nonpartisan Lyceum group finds that the majority of likely voters in Texas approve of the job Republican Rick Perry is doing as governor and Democrat Barack Obama is doing as president.
The poll shows Perry -- a potential presidential candidate -- with a 54 percent job approval rating among those surveyed.
Obama's approval rating stands at 51 percent. That's up from 47 percent in 2010, and the poll organizers say Obama's rating may have been helped because the poll was conducted about three weeks since the U.S. military operation that killed Osama bin Laden.
Both register above the 49 percent approval from the GOP-controlled state Legislature.
About 700 people were polled by telephone from May 24-31. The margin of error was plus or minus 3.7 percent.
