MacArthur-Plano West Showdown Set

NORTH TEXAS (CBSDFW.COM) - All-American Alexis Jones sliced and diced the Keller defense for 27 points as the state's top ranked high school girls basketball team, Irving MacArthur, rolled to the next round of the UIL state playoffs with a 64-47 victory Friday night in Colleyville.

The defending state champion Cardinals (33-2) move on to a Class 5A regional quarterfinal showdown with 6th ranked Plano West.  The Wolves (34-2) downed #17 Cedar Hill 65-51.

It was a tough night in West Texas for several DFW schools.  North Crowley fell to Lubbock Monterey 46-42 while Arlington Bowie lost to Lubbock Coronado 55-52.  Arlington Martin saw its season come to an end 68-41 against Amarillo.

Mesquite slipped past Dallas Skyline in a low scoring affair 33-26 and will face DeSoto, which swamped Garland 78-51.

7th ranked Southlake Carroll was taken to overtime but came from behind to beat Mansfield Timberview 48-46.  The Lady Dragons face their toughest test next against #3 Duncanville (35-1) in a battle of two of the top seven teams in the state.  Garland Naaman Forest fell to Killeen Harker Heights 59-38.

In Class 4A area round games, Aundra Stovall and Alarie Mayze combined for 29 points as Arlington Seguin upset 10th ranked Aledo, 49-44.  Seguin will now face Mansfield Summitt, the state's  4th ranked Class 4A squad, which beat Fort Worth Trimble Tech 49-33.

Sheridan Stokes made a layup with just 4 seconds left in the game as the Honeybees of Stephenville won a nailbiter over Keller Timber Creek 44-42.  Stephenville will play Granbury, a 54-32 winner over Fort Worth Western Hills behind Lilley Vander Zee's 30 points.

Cameasha Turner tallied 22 points as 2nd ranked Dallas Lincoln remained unbeaten with a 65-46 win over Wylie.  Lincoln moves on to a Class 4A regional quarterfinal matchup with 15th ranked Rockwall, which romped past Dallas Kimball 65-23.  Kaitlin Read scored 17 points as Highland Park beat Dallas Carter 49-33.
