DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - When Texas acquired Jonathan Lucroy just before the end of the trade deadline on July 31st, their was surely some hope that things would work itself out regarding his future with the club beyond his current contract. The final year of Lucroy's five-year deal he signed in Milwaukee is a club option for $5.25 million, which Texas will assuredly pick up for the 2017 season.

Lucroy spent the first six and half years of his career in Milwaukee, (10 total including time spent in the minor leagues) where the club only made the playoffs one time.

Before being dealt, Lucroy expressed a desire to be traded to a team that would compete year in and year out, and with the players Texas has, it seems like the Rangers will be in the thick of things for the foreseeable future.

There isn't any doubt the club would love for Lucroy to spend the rest of his career in Texas, but does he feel the same way? Discussing it recently with Ben and Skin on 105.3 The Fan, Lucroy seemed very open to the idea of remaining in Texas long-term.

"I can definitely see that. That's something that's definitely a possibility. You know, obviously, that's something that they have to decide if they want to do that or not. We're just kind of enjoying the ride right now and this is the first organization I've been with that isn't the Milwaukee Brewers, so we're kind of still adjusting, you know, and figuring things out. I was with the Brewers for ten years... We're definitely thankful to be here and to be apart of something special. So, what the future holds we don't know, but we are enjoying ourselves. Team's great,  the administration's great, the upper management, coaching staff, the fans, you couldn't have asked for anything better. Weather's awesome. My wife and I are both from the south, so we're used to that hot weather. We're thankful to be apart of something like I said. Whatever the future holds, we'll see, but that's not up to me."

The impact of the trade has been felt immediately. Fans are already clamoring over the fact that Texas has a catcher that can hit and call a good game, something they haven't had in quite a long time.

Since joining Texas, Lucroy is hitting .250 with six home runs and 11 RBI in 46 plate appearances.
