Lower-Tier Chris Long To Visit Cowboys

IRVING (105.3 The Fan) — The Cowboys have always considered defensive end Chris Long a lower-tiered free agent.

By Monday, we will be at that lower tier … and Long, the Rams pass-rusher who was the second player talking in the 2008 NFL Draft, will be unpacking for a visit to Dallas.

Long coming to visit with the Cowboys is much more his idea that theirs. But Dallas does have a need for edge rushers and when healthy, not worn down and younger (Long is now 31), he was that. From 2010 to 2013 he totaled 41.5 sacks.

As the son of Hall-of-Famer Howie Long, Chris is a high-profile player. That doesn't matter.

But he's also a high-motor and high-character player. And maybe that will, if the price is right … and short-term.
