Love Field Makeover Expected To Wrap Up October 2014
DALLAS (CBSDFW.COM) - Another milestone in Love Field's ongoing makeover will be unveiled Monday morning.
Four new baggage carousels will come online in an expanded area that also connects passengers to the parking garage through a pedestrian tunnel.
"Awesome!" exclaimed Janet Canez. "So the next time I come back, it'll be even better."
The Love Field Modernization Project, a five year, half billion dollar effort, will also bring a new 20 gate terminal to the airport, new restaurants and concessions, artwork and more convenient passenger pickup.
"I haven't been here in a long time," said Arlene Lewis, "but, the new changes are awesome. [It's an] awesome airport."
Passengers have long since grown weary of the cramped and crowded baggage area, which is one of many areas in the old Love Field needing upgrades.
"It was a little rough going," said Derron Jones, making a comical face as he recalls the well-worn airport. "It's so much nicer now and clean. And it just seems to be a lot easier to get around in here."
And next month, when the Wright Amendment flight restrictions are lifted, it will be easier to get around the nation from Love Field.
"It's going to be awesome," exclaimed Lewis. "I can go see family without changing planes, so it'll be great."
Love Field renovations are expected to be completed by October 1st .
