PLANO (KRLD) -- Outside of California, there is no greater market for video game development than Texas -- and the market in north Texas is hefty.
Emily Trube reports from Plano with more.
Video Games in Collin County
Collin County is home to the producers of some of the most popular games world-wide, including Robot Entertainment and Gearbox Software.
There are around 30 video game production studios in north Texas. Some take advantage of the state's incentive program. Through the Texas Film Commission in Governor Rick Perry's office, the state offers to pay back 15% of what a video game company spends on a prject in Texas, if they meet certain spending and hiring requirements.
The industry is bolstered by one one of the premier graduate education programs in digital game development, Guildhall, which is part of SMU in Plano.
Video game studio NonPareil Institute is also located on the Plano SMU campus. All of the developers at NonPareil have something interesting in common. They are all on the austism spectrum
