AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Getting the best seats for University of Texas sporting events will be based on a new loyalty points system tied to how much a fan donates or spends on tickets.
The school on Tuesday said the system will help determine priority for season tickets, parking, postseason games and other high-demand events.
The 2015 football season ticket-renewal process will be the first use for loyalty points. Totals are based on full-season ticket history, seat-related contributions and philanthropic gifts.
Renewing foundation and season-ticket members earn points from past contributions and purchases since 1986. That's when the Longhorn Foundation was established.
Five points are awarded per $100 contribution for philanthropic gifts received since Sept. 1. One point will be awarded per $100 contribution for all ticketed sports since 1987.
