LEWISVILLE (CBS 11 NEWS) - For the past 10 years Debbie Sardone has been out to achieve one mission with her non-profit organization Cleaning for A Reason. "The goal of this non-profit is to provide free house cleaning services to women who are battling cancer," she explained.

Sardone says she got the idea when a woman, who had been battling cancer, called her maid service asking for a quote. Sardone said that after receiving the quote the potential customer said that she couldn't afford it, because she was out of work due to cancer treatment and hung up.

Sardone said that was the moment she decided to spawn a non-profit business off of her maid service -- one specifically to help women fighting cancer. "I made the decision that day the next time a woman battling cancer would call my office we would just give it to her for free."

Carlene Kretzschmar of Lewisville is one of the thousands of women who Cleaning For A Reason has helped.

Kretzschamr, 74, is now clear of non-Hodgkin lymphoma, but said the free service she received during her battle was comforting and therapeutic. "I couldn't believe it. It was almost like a dream that someone would take care of me like that."

Sardone has partnered with more than 1,100 maid services all across the country and has already given free maid service to more than 18,000 women. She admitted, "I think it's probably the most rewarding thing I have done in business."
