Living Large: The Wine Collector House
WESTLAKE (CBS 11 NEWS) - For some, a wine rack just isn't enough. With that in mind, in this CBS 11 Living Large takes a tour of a home in Westlake made for a wine collector -- with a Texas-sized cellar.
Sandy Tabacinic knows the house well. She built the wine cellar and remodeled parts of the house, including putting a bookcase in the dining room which is the entrance to the wine cellar.
"It's got its own little area underground in the basement of the house," Tabacinic told CBS 11. "It's a mixture between a man cave and a girls' hanging out" room, she says.
The basement has a sitting area with high vaulted ceilings and plush decor. It is climate controlled and can hold over 1,000 bottles. In the back of the cellar is another secret door leading to an elevator for those who don't want to take the stairs up with a glass of wine.
The 15,000-square-foot home has five bedrooms and six baths, including a private Zen garden off the master bath. It also has a seating area with a private outdoor-open shower.
The home reminds you of a Spanish Mediterranean villa with high vaulted ceilings in an earthy setting. "The home has a hacienda feel," says Tabacnic."You have a lot of the woods and a lot of the grown vines, as well as the moss that grows through the natural stone on the patio."
The backyard has a state-of-the art kitchen with a beer tap and flat-screen TV, as well as enough seating for a big party. The 3.6-acre property backs into a lush green space.
Whether you're out there sipping wine or tasting beer - this home has a space for everyone. And, that's Living Large.
