Living Large: Cliffside Castle In Fort Worth
FORT WORTH (CBS 11 NEWS) - Façade Norde is a landmark on Fort Worth's Boat Club Road.
Homeowner Gene deBullet says people often slow down to take a good look at his castle. "Sometimes people stop and get out the cameras."
The Scottish-French castle was built as an homage to his family roots. The castle is a replica of deBullet's grandmother's family castle in Scotland.
"My family is French on my dad's side," he explained. "They fought with Napoleon."
The grand foyer is lined with pictures of his ancestors, including old pictures of Napoleon and his wife.
Built in 1998, the 6,600 square feet home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms.
But deBullet says there's more. "It has 60 arches and multiple turrets."
One of the home's three bars is in one of the turrets. "It's got a crows nest bar, which is about 50 feet off the ground. It doubles as a card playing room."
The $2.5 million home is built on a cliff overlooking Fort Worth's Eagle Mountain Lake. "It's got the oldest boat house on the Lake. It still remains as it was built," he says. The stunning views of the lake and it's unique façade is what makes this home, today's Living Large.
