Like A Good Neighbor, State Farm Is In North Dallas
At the beginning of 2015, State Farm began a massive move of employees and offices to its new regional hub in Richardson, Texas. The large relocation included a move of more than 8,000 current employees from across Texas as well as other states. Although State Farm's main headquarters is located in Bloomington, IL, this new complex is just one of several new hubs that have been built in recent years.
But the expansion is not only moving 8,000 employees to North Texas area, it is also hiring additional employees from around the local area. The original State Farm campus was to be made up of 489,000 square feet of space and include three buildings. Apparently, three buildings were not enough, and a fourth building is now under construction. This 500,000 square foot, 12-story fourth building will also have 30,000 square feet of ground floor retail space and a five-story parking garage.
Called CityLine, the complex near Central Expressway and George W. Bush Turnpike will be the new regional home of State Farm. The area will also be pedestrian friendly with retail, residential, hotel and office areas. All of these facilities will make up the two million square foot complex.
But what does all this building and moving mean? It means jobs for those in the North Texas area. State Farm has already had several hiring events through the Workforce Commission for various positions. But the insurance giant is not the only company who is hiring. Businesses independent of State Farm that will occupy the other office, retail, residential and hotel spaces are also anticipated to be looking for employees. These businesses include a regional office for Raytheon, a new shopping center anchored by Whole Foods Market, an Aloft Hotel and hundreds of apartments. All of these businesses, along with State Farm, will bring thousands of jobs to the North Texas region.
