Lights Go Out At New Meadowlands During Game

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP) - The lights went out twice within 11 minutes of the third quarter of the Cowboys-Giants game.

At exactly 6 p.m. EST, there was a flash and several banks of lights at the New Meadowlands Stadium went dark atop the arena. Play resumed after a momentarily delay, but then the entire place lost power on the next series.

Although the stadium was completely dark for only seconds, there was not enough light to continue play.

A public address announcement asked everyone in the building to remain in their seats and await further instructions.

The $1.6 billion stadium, which opened in the spring, has had some previous issues with power.
