Lightning Suspected In 2 DFW House Fires
FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - Firefighters in Tarrant County were kept busy on Sunday night. Lightning is suspected for starting two of the blazes at homes in Fort Worth and Colleyville.
The Colleyville fire at about 8:45 p.m. Sunday night prompted a two-alarm response. Flames were showing from the garage of a large home when firefighters first arrived on the scene, in the 6000 block of Sterling Drive.
Emergency crews from Keller and Southlake also arrived on the scene to help battle the fire. There were no reports of injuries.
Lightning may also be responsible for another fire, about three hours later, at a home in northwest Fort Worth. Flames were shooting from the roof of the two-story home, located in the 4900 block of Waterford Drive, when crews got to the scene. Strong storms were moving past North Texas at the time of the fire. Nobody was hurt in this incident either.
While those blazes may have been caused by severe weather, another set of fires in Fort Worth on Sunday are seemingly more suspicious.
Authorities are looking for a couple accused of possibly setting several fires in the 8100 block of Calmont Avenue. The fires started at about 11:15 p.m. Sunday night, when witnesses first reported seeing a man and a woman starting the blazes. No structures were damaged during this incident, but officials would still like to talk to the suspects.
