Lewisville Assault Suspect Arrested, Suspected In Other Attacks

LEWISVILLE (CBSDFW.COM) – Police have arrested a man suspected  in the attempted assault of two girls and two women in the past four days.

The four victims – the girls were each 10-years-old and the two women were 23 and 25-years old – all described the man as Hispanic, between 20 and 30-years-old with an athletic build wearing a black hoodie.

Lewisville police said he fled each scene in an "older four-door gold passenger car." They added that it's an Oldsmobile or something similar, and has a paper license plate with the characters "5," "K" and "4."

A police spokesman said the department took them man into custody Wednesday afternoon who fits this description and was picked up driving a car that fits what victims described. Captain Kevin Deaver said police arrested him during a traffic stop by an elementary school.

Deaver said he was believed to be looking for more victims.

The first attempted assault was on September 10, when the suspect grabbed the 25-year-old woman from behind as she was walking her dog at about 11 a.m.

Deaver said the victim screamed and the suspect ran to the car and drove away.

The next assault happened at 6:30 a.m. on September 13. Deaver said the suspect jumped out in front of the 23-year-old as she was jogging and "grabbed her in a 'bear hug.'"

The woman was able to fight off the suspect. He again fled in the same car.

On Wednesday, the man approached a 10-year-old girl who was standing outside her home and asked if she would help him find his lost dog. The girl was frightened and ran inside the home.

Deaver said police were responding to that incident when another call came in from a 10-year-old who said a car was following her. The girl ran inside a gated community and a neighbor called police.

Other area police departments are investigating whether the man is responsible for similar attacks in their cities. As such, Lewisville PD has not released his name.
