Let Your iPhone Be Your Guide For Main St. 2012

FORT WORTH (CBSDFW.COM) - So, you want to head out to Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival this weekend, but you're not sure what all to see and do. If you have an iPhone, rest easy.

The Main St. Fort Worth Arts Festival app has been updated for 2012. With maps, artist information and a QR code reader for information, the app is a "tour guide on your iPhone," says Main Street's Claire Bloxom.

The app, which debuted in 2010, has become an integral part of the Main Street experience. Those who download the app will find a way to browse the merchandise before heading downtown. Browse by art medium or artist name, then you can save artist information in your favorites, and even email the artist to inquire on certain pieces.

On the music side, an entire schedule of bands and stages gives details down to the genre you're looking for. Just click on the color assigned to certain types of music (blue for classic rock, pink for jazz, etc.) and the list of who is performing your music choice.

The app, much like the festival itself, has something for everyone. Main Street organizers expect roughly 400,000 visitors to downtown this weekend, so be prepared. The 225 artists were selected from over 1,500 applicants, so the festival has taken on a world-class quality as it has grown. "It's like walking through a museum," says Bloxom.

The app can be downloaded for free by going to mainstreetartsfest.org, or to the iTunes App Store.
