LaVar Arrington: Cowboys-Redskins Rivalry Is Dead
DALLAS (105.3 THE FAN) -- LaVar Arrington played in his fair share of Cowboys-Redskins games during his career with Washington. But according to him, the rivalry is dead.
"When people ask me about the rivalry of Dallas and Washington, I felt like it was fizzling out when I came into the league in 2000," said Arrington on 105.3 The Fan's New School. "I just think teams have to be relevant and have to win, be competitive, for there to be a rivalry."

Arrington says that, as a player, the game has become less an on-field rivalry and more of an emotional rivalry for fans.
"I think there's still a fan emotional tie to it, but it's clearly not an intense rivalry at this point. It's a battle of historical rivals at this point."
One reason: the Washington Redskins and Dallas Cowboys just "aren't very good."
When asked about the Cowboys shocking loss to the Packers on Sunday in Arlington, Arrington was direct with his thoughts.
"I just thought it's something that Dallas is known for doing. That's kind of the reputation of the Dallas Cowboys -- that they'll play a heck of a game but will find a way to give it up at the end of the game. I think it's more of a surprise when you guys don't throw away a game."
Whether via a blocked punt, fumbled snap, or poor decision, Arrington says they Cowboys just can't shake their late-game struggles.
"The Cowboys don't finish games and the door somehow, someway stays open."
