Laura Bush & Daughter Speak At Dallas Luncheon
DALLAS (AP) - Former first lady Laura Bush and daughter Jenna Bush Hager spoke about a topic close to their hearts -- education -- at a Dallas luncheon benefiting a nonprofit group that provides early childhood education and support to at-risk Hispanic families.
Bush and Hager, both former educators, were the keynote speakers Friday at a fundraiser for the Dallas chapter of AVANCE.
Hager told the audience that education "literally changes and saves lives."
Former President George W. Bush and Laura Bush moved to Dallas after he left office in 2009.
Hager and twin sister Barbara Bush spoke last month at a fundraiser for a substance abuse treatment center for women and adolescent girls.
Hager is a contributing correspondent on NBC's "Today" show. She and her sister live in New York City.
